Color Palette Made from 2013′s First Harvest

This time of year, my attention turns to our garden. Here’s a color palette I made from our first three harvests for 2013: purple asparagus, green chives, pink rhubarb.

There may be a project in here somewhere – let’s see if I can keep this up with our entire garden this summer… no promises, but it would be fun!

Yarnbomb Lebanon!

In April 2013, I had the tremendous pleasure of both coordinating and knitting for an AVA Gallery and Art Center yarnbomb of one of the crab apple trees on the east side of Lebanon, NH’s Colburn Park—that’s city hall in the background.

A total of 20 knitters combined forces to make this popular install happen. Thanks to all!!!

The experience was written about beautifully by Liz Sauchelli, in her April 8, 2013 Valley News article: Stitching a Community.

As I find more time in the coming weeks, I’ll add more images here.

Here’s a quick end of day reminder – if you’re in the area and can make it tomorrow, I’m presenting my work at AVA as part of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts’ Artist Entrepreneurial Workshops. Though the blurb suggests that I’ll be presenting 5 past projects — I’m prepped to present 8! Anticipate a high-energy talk!!!

Public Art: Community, Participation & Commerce
April 10, 2013 , 11:30am – 1:00pm

Presenter: Adam Blue, Education Director, AVA Gallery and Art Center
Location: Kimball Jenkins Art School, Concord

To some, public art still conjures up monumental sculptures surrounded by park benches. Yet current public art practices have evolved into a more inclusive participatory experience—where art is made of, by, and for the people. Theses works might be found anywhere, are often impermanent, and are frequently presented to the community for free. Adam Blue, Education Director at AVA Gallery and Art Center in Lebanon, NH will present five past projects and recent work.
Please count me among the many artists who thank the NHSCA for all the hard work they do for the arts in our state and to acknowledge how appreciative I am for the opportunity to be part of this program.

Upcoming New Hampshire State Council on the Arts Talk on Public Art

I’m delighted to have been invited by the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts to give a presentation on some of the public art projects I’ve helped to coordinate in my role as Education Director at AVA Gallery and Art Center.

The talk, titled Public Art – Community, Participation & Commerce, will be on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, 11:30am – 1:00pm, at the Kimball Jenkins School of Art in Concord, NH.
